Awoken Madness

How could I give this anything other than 5 stars? Incredible layout, diabolical traps, extremely fun combat and authentic visual style. Huge map and very fun to explore. Different areas have different vibe and are very distinct. Played it on Normal with gamepad (yes I'm a degenerate hehe). Got my ass kicked a fair bit, and loved every moment. Pure fun from start to finish. Arena fights are fun - and this is coming from someone who doesn't enjoy them generally. Played it twice now. For those who like to play with AD, sadly one of the triggers before one setpiece doesn't respond. Howerer Vanilla works 100 % and this is a MUST PLAY !
Beat this on Hard, amazing when you consider how hardcore Mazu can be with the combat, tricks and general difficulty (I play most of his other maps on Normal). It's an excellent and difficult map (but fair) and so so rewarding when you beat it. Some of the traps are geninuely diabolical and would do horror to Sandy Petersen so keep on your toes and expect ANYTHING! One of the most memorable custom Quake maps I played but not for the faint-hearted.

I played this map map with big pleasure. Excellent structure of the map. Great balance armor/weapon/ammo. Have to play.
This map has it all: hidden buttons, vast yet intricate and satisfying arenas in which to obliterate monsters, and a frankly maddening number of monsters to obliterate. I enjoyed it a lot!
Even when he had just begun, Mazu had a serious sense of style in his experimentation and use of gameplay mechanics to create more interesting scenarios than the usual heavily-decorated hallway simulators that were popular at the time. A must-play if you enjoy your Quake spicy.
