I have never been so close to quitting a map in the middle as I was with this map. I was simply overwhelmed by the sheer size. Still, I can only give it 5 stars, even though I prefer my Quake in smaller bites.
Gigantic awesome map with great textures. Logic gameplay. Have to play for big fun.
Quite a fun map that is sometimes let down by it's grandiosity. I find Mazu went on to much better format his huge offerings into something that was more digestible for the general player, moving away from giant non-linear monoliths like these towards segmented maps with specific 'phases', or visual progression unlike what we see here.
One of the best base maps. By its size comparable with famous classic Telefragged. But progression is non-linear and that's what I love about this map. It feels like a real place where u can go to the left, forward, and to the right. Sometimes you may get lost a bit but only a bit, and also at least to me it added to realism and sense of place - I am visiting it for the first time, how the heck could I know where to go? As for encounters they're quite brutal. Not as brutal as Mazu's later maps, but challenging, always challenging. As for brushwork it's very detailed but never overdetailed. Perhaps that open area with crane was the only one area that feels a lilbit underdetailed, while it's still good. Lighting there not so interesting, kinda bland. Anyway it's still good old Quake. Recommend to everyone. A masterpiece.
