digs submitted a new resource:

The Anomaly 3: Tower - Map for Arcane Dimensions v1.81 and require port with bsp2 support.

This map was completed back in December 2023. Quaddicted is currently under reconstruction. And I was hinted that it would be good to place my map on this resource.

Oh, thanks for listening to feedback and bringing your map here! I finished it recently when it was only available on the Func_Msgboard and had a good time!

Never played an Anomaly map before. I'm thinking of playing the trilogy all at once.

Recommended.

I played all of digs' maps again after he published Anomaly 3.
IMO, they have an original touch, a unique signature.
Some were really difficult to explore, but it's worth it.
And played in the sequence of having been published, they offer a great variety of ideas and themes, also kinda Quake history, because digs01 was published 2006.

Musing again with this one, never was able to grab it.

Decided to play Anomaly 3 first since I'm on an AD kick lately and enjoying how nice it looks with vkQuake (rain, snow, smoke, mists; the works) instead of my usual source port Ironwail. Have to admit, I was frequently stumped and chasing my tail for a bit because I missed a certain ladder. Also, when I saw the rooms with the wireframe crates I wondered: "WTF? Is this map complete or did I stumble into a naked construction set?" lol. But I did find the ladder eventually and was able to finish it. One thing I learned is that those oversized Super Shamblers with the great balls of acid they lob at you are not nearly as deadly as the regular shamblers with their insta-kill lightning attacks. Nastiest game monsters since the archies from Doom I & II.

Isn't this shambler the same as for example in ad_sepulcher, aka Boglord?
in sepulcher it's much more difficult to kill him. For me, anyway.

Are you suggesting they have hitpoint bloat rather than a more deadly attack? God, I hate that. The "super shamblers" in Anomaly 3 slowly lob acid balls at you which are easy to dodge as opposed to instant lighting strikes. It's been a year or so since I last played AD so I forget a lot. Maybe their attack was different? My favorite map in AD was The Necromancer's Keep, I think. Just loved those nasty traps like the 4 vores and their babies attacking you; Sandy Petersen-esque kicked up to 11. AD was a peak FPS experience for me. I should replay it with vkQuake to see all the eye candy.

In other Anomaly news, I completed The Anomaly 1. Decent map. Wanted to complete The Anomaly 2, and finished about 3/4 of it, in fact, but I just couldn't access those last 2 of 5 pillars needed to finish the map. It's brilliant though. Too brilliant. Not used to hardcore puzzles in Quake maps. My brain is too old.
