Explore Jam 3 - Pack of non-combat maps with puzzles & exploration

Pack of non combat maps. Some puzzles, some platforming and a lot of exploration! In comparison with 2 previous jam packs this one is leaning toward walking simulators with a lot of environmental storytelling.

Maps were tested extensively on QS, QSS, IW and VK. IW and VK are recommended. Some maps may crash on QS due to packet overflow, so QS is not recommended.

I just noticed post-release that the ladders in my map don't seem to work in VKQuake, but they do work in Quakespasm and Ironwail. Is this a known issue with AD's ladders?

So I may or may not have spent a good ten minutes not realizing those chains are climbable (a perfectly reasonable assumption in most games, just not something I've run into in Quake before).
The player character talks to themself the entire map, might be worth throwing a "I can climb those chains!" prompt here (unless I'm dumb and missed it).

Sick map. The use of death planes is a little weird in some places (like that mountainside ledge you'd normally be able to jump to, or one of the ledges in the room above) but it's not a problem.

Stuck. Pretty early in Infestation (I think first elevator)

This concept and these textures are sick as fuck. I want to see more of this.

It's strange. Because VK is main engine I use for playing AD and therefore I tested all EJ3 maps on it. What version you played with? Latest 1.30.1?

Yeah. That's a real bug. A void trigger from outside area. Gonna fix it

PS. And a player talks in this chains area - just on Easy, not Normal & Hard. There're cpl more hints that appear only on Easy
 
What do you mean by stuck? Don't know what to do and where to go? Or literally stuck in some geometry?
I platformed onto these boxes thinking there was a secret back there (there aren't actually any secrets on the map, I didn't record it but you can jump here from the ledge stairs with difficulty).

Not a big deal it's just weird there's this gap between the boxes and the wall which usually implies something is there in quake maps.

To get here take a left when you enter the base and head down toward where the silver key card is (I missed half this map the first time because instead of taking the elevator I just yolo jumped down the shaft). It's by the first elevator.


re: The chains thing, fair enough. I did figure it out eventually.

Hi, really wanna play this! But I get an error:

I'm using Steam Deck. Quake loads, so I must be doing something wrong.

What version of Quake are you trying to run it on? The rerelease Kex engine? Or are you using one of the source ports?
 
Dunno if anybody can give me a spoiler but I've completed nearly every other map since Thursday (including the start! :p), and I've got to ask — am I missing some secret trigger as the very first step of progression on Brains map HagalazNauthizIsaz… or is it really a skill issue? 😭
