Spacebike submitted a new resource:

Enforced Entropy - A large but linear id1 tech base

This is my first Quake map. It is a large but linear id1 tech base featuring a (hopefully) decent balance of both regular encounters and horde encounters.

This map requires a source port with increased limits. It was mainly tested with Ironwail (recommended), but also seems to work with Quakespasm and KexQuake (the Nightdive rerelease). Any other source ports are untested. See the readme for more information.

You should give the map a proper title in-game by setting the "message" key on worldspawn (In this case to Enforced Entropy, since that's what the title is apparently meant to be). This will display in the console when you load the map and on the HUD when you hold tab.

I would like to know how to get to the NIN box on top of the 2 big crates in the vertical root with the 4 pillars?
I have an idea but fail to execute the jump sequence.
jump on top op the access cover leaning against the wall, From there on top of the switch, then on top of the door frame?

You are correct! Well spotted. It is a difficult jump, though, which is why it is entirely optional.

It was a difficult map for me to play. I don't know what it was, but I couldn't get to grips with some of the enemies with too little ammunition in the normal way. But still a beautiful masterpiece.

A few minutes after my post I tried again and managed to execute the jumps.
I love the secrets in this map. They are very well hidden and this one and the mega health require some well executed jumps.
I probably would not be able to get these two without saving, though.

Thanks for playing my map! I am sorry to hear that you had a rough experience with it, especially regarding the ammo. Good job on persevering, though. I imagine some people would have just quit if faced with your situation (and I would not blame them).

It is not your fault if you struggled getting through the map. I obviously did not do a good enough job balancing the skill levels, and it seems that this map, even on skill 0, is currently more difficult than many maps on skill 2. I will post an update soon to alleviate this.

But that doesn't matter. It's just important to know that there are also very difficult maps. Just keep it that way. I could have played on skill 0. Why didn't I think of that? :)

Spacebike updated Enforced Entropy with a new update entry:

Version 1.2

- Further balanced skill levels in an attempt to make the map easier (mainly on skills 0 and 1, but skill 2 also got some adjustments)

- Added two more secrets

- Added and moved a few brushes

- Added the title of the map to the worldspawn message key (thanks to h4724)

- Made some minor texture and lighting adjustments

- Made the section with the moving platform less tedious

- Tweaked a particular monster jump so that it works properly with Copper

- Shortened and sped up the final...

Spacebike updated Enforced Entropy with a new update entry:

Version 1.3 - Final Adjustments

- Tweaked the cramped encounter with the Shambler and Death Knight to allow the player to decide when to start the fight (this encounter rarely went as intended, and should now be more approachable)

- Made some minor changes to a few encounters on skill 0

- Made a specific secret easier to get to on skill 0

- Made some minor texture adjustments (mostly on the pipes and cliffs outside)

- Added a message to a door that was missing one

Unless any significant bugs are discovered, this will...

As I'm still new to the ways of Slipseer, I want to rate this monstrosity a solid 5. Regardelss of how I love to use the "long in the tooth" phrase for most maps that are 200+ monsters (on Hard), this one feels smooth and poses a great challenge on Hard. Awesome. The first map like that? That's beyond imaginable!
