Problems with corrupted archives when downloading from Slipseer

There are people reporting corrupted files being downloaded from time to time.
Usually these corrupted archives are not fully downloaded for some reason, but showing complete on users end.
It's hard to find out what is going on, especially when on server side everything looks fine. CPU usage is low, RAM usage is very low, no suspicious logs.

I have some guesses what can be a problem, but it's just a speculation at this point:
1) CDN is sending incomplete file;
2) Users with download problems are on slow internet (mobile/satellite) and after some time server closes connection;
3) Antivirus or some other software is interfering with file saving;

If you have problems with downloads, write here what is your setup, av/no-av, mobile internet or not, what system are you on etc.

First step I'll take is disabling CDN today. We'll wait 24h and see how it goes afterwards.
If we get this problem after May 31st, CDN was not a problem.

I'm on a mobile connection and I've encountered this a few times, so #2 is possible. I don't have any unusual security software, all just stock Win10 stuff. I've never had this problem on another website. Usually I can get a functional download by just trying again right away.

Thanks.

If it downloads fast on mobile, I doubt it's the problem. I was mostly thinking about 3G internet downloading 500Mb in over 5min.

The same problem has been going on since last year, and only with this site. On my mobile internet, in hypermarkets/shopping malls like Carrefour, Kaufland and Focus Mall. I don't remember when I downloaded something for the first time. Every time I have to download it several times, repair the archive and create a ready-made game package from it.

So it's not the internet's fault, but this site's. You used to be able to download at a speed of literally 100kb and everything downloaded correctly, today there are some stupid limits. Not all of us have 1Gb internet connections.

Upload here: https://www.quaddicted.com/reviews/ every version of the map and there won't be any problem.

It happens to me, i have variable connection speed during day depending on network load and weather condition (4G). So usually it looks like it downloading but at one moment it stops completely, browser says "resuming the download" and there are two options, either it continues to download after that or just drops the download, this often leads to corrupted archive instead of "can't download" message. IIRC i tried download manager and it still the same corrupted file result. But it happened a while ago, so i'm not sure.

Last year (November 2023) we moved file hosting to cloud, because massive downloading of 500Mb packs like QBJ was consuming all cpu/memory, making server not responsive (like Hacker News hug of death we had last year...). So if this started happening after Nov 2023 we have suspicious path to look into. Few days ago we disabled CDN to see if maybe that's the problem.

We have 0 interest in blocking you from downloading content. We didn't apply any limits or timeouts for connections. For us you can download maps for weeks if that's what you like to do. There might be some setting or config screwing whole process, that's what we are trying to figure out.

We are more than happy if you upload your repaired archives to Quaddicted. The bigger the community the better and Quaddicted definitely needs more love.

Thanks for some more details!
I think the problem with resuming is with request being sent through cloud storage API, I'll do more investigation.

So far all mentioned problems were on mobile Internet or public wifi.
There is a chance there is some timeout being applied somewhere in-between, when download speed is low.
We of course don't want to do that.

We'll investigate more. Thank you for your patience!

Thanks for the quick response guys. After disabling the CDN, I honestly didn't check:ROFLMAO:. Another solution would be the ability to continue downloading using some Downloaders after the interruption. Then the problem would disappear permanently.

Quick test of Snack 3 and unexpected end of archive. It says 74.9 so this time it cut some negligible value. Previously it was always missing 0.2 - 0.5 MB.

We'll try to move to new server this week. This will allow us to enable byte-range downloads. You'll be able to pause/resume downloads.
This should also eliminate problems with incomplete/corrupted archives.
