The rating system is a bit weird in that, afaict, nothing can be given 0 stars. Everything starts at 20%, everything implicitly has *some* merit, everyone gets their first star as some sort of consolation prize.
Wow, upon review I realize this comment comes off more aggressive than it needs to. I just think the scores should reflect a range of 0-100 rather than 20-100.The rating system is a bit weird in that, afaict, nothing can be given 0 stars. I agree it's a bit unfortunate that it takes up real-estate, but I haven't seen a good example of this happening yet to do anything about it. Besides, there's not really any space left on the home screen without removing stuff like the Resources cell, which I think is required otherwise we get this problem threefold with all kinds of things being lumped into one cell.Regarding the home page, I believe we could have a section just for recently updated content. It lives alongside new maps, and this can overshadow small new releases. A "recent updated" tab separated from "New maps & mods" would be great.
I would love to see an Off-Topic or Game Dev board for non-Quake stuff that we are making that has influence from Quake. It's even more fitting that people use DarkPlaces and FTEQW for game development as well.
There already is a page system on the downloads page? It goes back to the creation of the site.Suggestion 1: a page system for new mods/new resources. As it is now it's impossible to navigate through older content if you don't already know the name of what you're looking for
Yeah my bad you're right. Never mind about my first suggestion thenThere already is a page system on the downloads page? It goes back to the creation of the site.
We've been trying to find a good solution to this for a while. The way our framework functions, a single author always must have authorship over a download. We tried setting up resource teams, but right now they're not widely used *and* you cannot search strictly via them. It's sloppy, and we need to fix it eventually.I'm not sure if this is a feature already that I just can't find, but it could be useful to have a way of easily and cleanly searching/seeing every release that a specified author has participated in. Currently if I try and search for someone it shows a spam of posts for every individual update in solo releases, plus regular forum posts, and then depending on search parameters sometimes omits any jam they've participated in but didn't upload themselves. Ideally it would be good to just bring up a specific author and see just one entry for every map submitted, so it can be easily read.
Have you tried using the tool at quak.cney.stream? It searches quaddicted and slipseer, and you can search by author. Though sometimes authors are credited under different names, and that's an occasional problem.I'm not sure if this is a feature already that I just can't find, but it could be useful to have a way of easily and cleanly searching/seeing every release that a specified author has participated in. That still only lists the resource owner on Slipseer, not the full list of authors.Have you tried using the tool at quak.cney.stream? It searches quaddicted and slipseer, and you can search by author. Though sometimes authors are credited under different names, and that's an occasional problem.
