Submitting other peoples files?

Hello, I'm wondering if there are any policies / systems / plans for helping people submit other peoples files?...

I'm just thinking -- I would love to help fill out the download offerings here, and I'm sure other curator types would too. So I'm asking myself, what's stopping me?

I think it makes me uncomfortable that the website design gives the uploader all the credit and permanent control over the file... and so I end up not doing any uploading, because it feels like a weird theft.

Some suggestions to try to do this ethically --

- enable a separate "author" override field to the file upload submission form, and if defined, then highlight that instead of the uploader

- have a process / policy to let an author request control of their own file if they wish? (and/or have a policy / process to let people ask an admin to remove their file if they didn't want it uploaded)

What do we think + are there any changes or systems like this planned?

This has always been part of the website, although for now it is a particularly manual process. From the rules;
All downloads posted by you should be at least partially owned, contributed-to or organized by yourself.
  • This rule does not apply in cases where the author/download has not been active/available in the community.
    • For instance: Texmex, Rubicon and CR8
    • In these cases, ask an admin before posting, and after posting your download will be moved to the Quadmin account.
There is almost certainly a better way to go about this, but for now this works. I honestly wouldn't want to officialize this in any particular form, since I'm sure people would upload stuff like Arcane Dimensions or Alkaline without fully reading the rules and just causing more problems than it's worth.
