Very long metal themed map with high monster/secret count.

Based on progs_dump mod 3.0.

There are different music tracks on each skill setting.

Ironwail/vkQuake recommended.

I would like to have a version of this without monsters at all. Is it possible to remove them all? I am honestly interested in playing large Quake maps without any monsters at all just to explore the ambience and scenery.

On vkQuake you can use the console 'nomonsters 1' and restart the level. (or use '+set nomonsters 1' on the command line).
I don't know if there is an equivalent in Ironwail though, that option doesn't seems to work.

I am using Quakespasm.

Nice map, but i cant seem to activate one switch. I'll include a screenshot of wich one. I'm using ironwail 0.8.0.

This switch is shootable. The passage in front of you would have been closed if this switch had not been activated. Most likely you accidentally shot the switch in battle. Splash damage from rockets maybe.

Aha ok, that explains it. Well, i'm an idiot. I thought it was one of the 50 switches, but as you said, it is a shootable switch for progress in the map 😆

It looks amazing and is very atmospheric, but why (almost) invisible monsters? It's super annoying imho.

The reason is more challenging gameplay. Nightmare is broken in many ways. It's a lot easier than hard, because monsters behavior is more predictable. They just stand in place mindlessly spamming projectiles. Shamblers are super lame in Nightmare. When you use pillars as a cover - they don't have a chance to move at you because you shot at them, they attack, you hide - repeat exercise 10 times. I find this is annoying too, so I tried to make Nightmare different. I guess that wasn't successful decision. :)

Have you considered releasing the source so I can use it to find the last buttons? I have gone around the map in noclip and fullbright and I'm still missing 3 buttons. Some of these are way too well hidden.

he also spent quite a long time looking for the last button. skip to 04:04:00
Maybe it's the one you're looking for

Funnily enough I had already found that one. The console command he used to show entities is exactly what I was looking for to find the last 3 buttons. Let's see how it goes.

Guys, please learn how to quote a message. There is no reason to include the youtube link in your replies.

The first two were in areas I had previously explored and missed, but the dopefish one was really well hidden. I'll leave this here in case it helps someone.

I started playing this map but gave up pretty quickly. The button hunt and monster counts are off the charts and not something I personally enjoy. And that's fine. Not every map is going to suit every player. Kudos for all the energy you put into this, it's a huge piece of work and it's clearly finding an audience. Nice!
