Castle QuakeSkull - Single player, non-linear, first map


A medieval castle inspired by Grayskull Castle. The map was made in about 6 weeks. it is my first level using TrenchBroom (and more generally my first level!). Comes with a custom skybox and a music track.

This map is really cool. I really enjoy the aesthetic of the map, reminds me of games like Thief and Unreal. The design is cartoony and appealing, with really simple yet tasteful use of Makkon's textures. The enemy encounters were simple but entertaining, with enough variety to keep me interested. I loved exploring the inside of this castle with all of it's multicolored rooms and halls. The outside of the castle is really fun as well, with multiple unique and distinct locations around the level. It's relatively small and contained, but swimming over to the small sword island was a really neat moment of worldbuilding, as was stumbling into the throne room and the various storage rooms and libraries.

I will absolutely play this map again, it's a real treat! I hope to see another level similar to this in the future!
