Alkaline 1.1 - The ultimate Base mod for Quake …for now

Alkaline is a Quake 1 mod and map pack, with its foundation based on Rubicon 2 by metlslime.
Alkaline greatly expands the enemy roster and adds additional weapons and features. A tremendous amount of time was spent scouring through previous mods throughout Quake history and taking key elements, coupled with MANY original features, to create a rich and dynamic Base mod for Quake.

Elements have been aesthetically and functionally modified to ensure uniformity and balance throughout the...

Wow, thanks a lot. Can we get a list of the new maps in 1.2 please?
Edit: Nevermind, I just watched the trailer. 7 new maps?

Any change of getting this running on Quake Enhanced under Steam? I played Rubicon 2 and really enjoyed. I gave it a quick try earlier but couldn't get it to load. I am running Quake Enhanced in Parallels on a iMac M1.

You'll have a better chance trying to use a supported engine in Parallels such as Ironwail or Quakespasm. There's a lot of different people on this project, and getting them all to fix their maps for a weird broken port isn't realistic.

Finishing Dismal Signal Reforged gives a crash to desktop for me in 1.2b using Quakespasm spiked

QSS is a decently broken port nowadays, lots of bugs that haven't been fixed. Would highily reccomend using a port such as vkQuake or Ironwail over it if you can.

I feel like orange color scheme a la HL would fit the interface/console better now that most of the maps have brown to orange palette. Or make the checkbox to toggle orange/blue colors in the settings, like it does Slayers Testaments with its doom/doom eternal hud settings.

of what are you speaking specifically? these maps use a variety of different WADs / tilesets, and some don't come with what you are referring to. do you mean a holistic change? do you mean to request that someone make these textures?

I'll explain, here I quckly bashed together some screenshots to show what I see when playing the mod. And I see that most of the maps have orange/brown color palette, so hud, menu and console fonts with its blue color feels out of place on the screen when player loads 70% of maps.

So I think some kind of orange color scheme would fit for the mod better at this stage. Here is some mockup I made. I think hud should be closer to the original quake theme, but not brown, rather somewhere between orange and yellow, kind of like color Half-Life's pseudo-VFD display hud has. Just throwing ideas here. I realize that many people like original blue color scheme, so probably it is possible to make these two interface color schemes interchangeable in the options. I've already seen it in SlayerTest quake mod, where player can change hud style in the settings.

I don't like orange version. It doesn't feel SciFi that way anymore. Old stone not some futuristic metal. I like metallic blue

I am inclined to agree with Alex - not only do I like the blue more, it was a deliberate decision made because of its readability. The Orange is very distracting and harder to read.

Agreed about the stone, just picked some color from the environment. Don't know what tone to pick exactly, yet I want it to look something like this display:

i would argue that the contrast b/w the blue HUD and the yellow / orange textures and lighting is key / an attribute. having the HUD blend in more with the environment only makes it hard to read / understand.
