Quite nice for a first map!
Pretty decent brushwork - the copy/paste is neatly camouflaged with decorations - monster placenment fair (i still hate the beam-in monsters, they only ruin the illusion of reality) and the lighting is fairly atrocious....
I hope it will take a few years less before the next map from this author shows up... ;)
Thanks for Your work, and thanks for sharing!
a strong 4, if not 5. For a first map, it's pretty awesome!

Mate, this map is way better than most 1st time entries. You got the dynamics just right, the combat and the overall Quake feel. Amazing job.
This really feels Quake.
Be careful next time with teleported dudes running on top of each other, and pay a little more attention to lighting in some areas that are pitch black next to bright spots. My 5 cents fwiw.

But please do more, I can't wait to see what you can come up with.

Here's my playthrough:

Well, I liked it. Simple play through, nicely put together secret, I think someone else described it as a 'snack' and it's certainly a wholesome one. A map to be proud of.

Only thing I'd quibble with is the placement of the buttons. If it opens a door, then I like it to 'make sense' - not sure why someone would put a button up the top of the wall like that. But I'm getting picky, this is really worth a download and quick play through - on nightmare.
Congratulations on your first map. And thanks for telling us a bit about the inspiration. It's always nice to know what the mapper had in mind.

I liked the architecture a lot more than the placement of the enemies and the items. The spawning in the stairwell didn't really make sense to me. Two doors were very ugly and the stairs in the server room could have used some polishing, just like the lighting. Many corners were completely black for me. I also didn't understand why I got another 100 HP after the last enemies.

Besides these small flaws, I had a lot of fun and I was able to add an extra star for the ashtray. Thank you very much. I'm looking forward to your next map.

PS: I didn't find a secret. :(

IMO this was a nice snack before supper.
It's some steps away from being nearer to perfect, some cramped looking doors etc. but fun to play. And that's the most important thing for me.
Not every map has to have high-end-ad-or-alkaline-looks, hundreds of monsters and dozen of secrets.
Playing this I remember the beginnings.
Charming in its imperfectness.
Thanx.
