Hello guys, it's me again, i hope you are all doing well! so i'll try to be precise, i decided to make a new Quake map, maybe my final ID1 map : Doom TNT map 01, but in Quake... i did this in less than a week (5 days to be precise).
One thing is that altho this is an almost 1:1 recreation using Quake mapping on my perspective the map contains 2 original areas, one is a personal secret i decided to add and another an easter egg... i'm not gonna make a document so it will all be explained here.
With this i wanted to make a fun map in my spare time but i did it full energy blast so here it is... what does the download folder contain?
tntmap01.bsp : The main map.
snartroom.bsp : The easter egg map.
music:
- Frenetic made by L.A Sieben but an special edit of the Roland SC-55 music pack.
- Sans theme by Toby Fox (Undertale game).
The music are ogg files.
They all are in a id1 folder for easy copy and paste.
In depth details about the map:
Pretty much i wanted to recreate the map to have something to do in my spare time, ended up using a lot of time into it... i improved a bit in texturing, alignments and using cuts in the textures, i improved on lighting (it took me less than i expected) and enemy confrontation... altho this isn't an overall improvement or like the top notch map of my work... but at least something fun i decided to make.
Trivia:
- The map has the exact same trigger and operation like the doom map, with the exception of the couple of rooms.
- There is one secret exit to the easter egg room and in itself it's not counted as a secret.
- The snartroom was a map made by spectr importing a doom map as an image into Blender then doing the wholework in Trenchbroom, interesting but "cursed" idea, the plan was to have these 2 maps fully and ready to give more content, one Quake ID1 vision of the map and the map with mostly Doom 2 textures... since it couldn't be progressed further i decided to add it as an easter egg.
- The secret i left it as long and tedious since i am very well fond and familiarized with the Quake Speedrun community and i was gonna be REEEEEE if they would just do the secret exit to save time... so i left it not hard to find but not "time saving" for it in anyway.
- This map was not a problem to seal, but somehow a light was out of bounds, i deleted it to correct it.
- I had a problem with a nail ammo box that was good and didn't have any flags but it didn't appear in the first
outside area, i had to do small grid movements.
- The easter egg map uses undertale music for the joke mood... i am usually very serious but i try to leave some jokes altho that may be not that good.
- Most of the map was made with Grid 16.
- This is the first map i ever worked on that i don't consider it "Dark" in theme or level... cuz Doom is not that dark at times imo.
After this i think i'll make a map in copper.
