Not the biggest fan of the enemy roster here (I think my biggest nemesis actually did not make it to the commercial release of SPRAWL, guy that kinda shoots a barrage of rockets like a mortar), but wow they are still so well done. Main appeal for me is still the movement tech (which can work while slowmo-ing!). I love the start map and 3 playable maps, they're great with many cool ideas that wouldn't be out of place in the actual main SPRAWL game. Hoping this gets follow up additions to it much like ReMobilize did, great job to everyone involved! Everyone owes it to themselves to jump around and slow mo in JoyModulo's and Rabbit's maps. Main annoyances came from the tutorial map being almost harder than the 3 maps in the way it gated the wall jumping mechanic from the player and possibly one arena feeling a bit too claustrophobic in JoyModulo's but nothing too world ending.

I was able to get this working without much issue on Linux:

Code:
git clone https://github.com/VoidForce/QSprawl.git
cd ./QSprawl/Quake
make
./ironwail -basedir /path/to/sprawl_v1_1

(NB: spawl will not work with modified paks, so if you customized them, be sure to drop the vanilla id1 in the spawl_v1_1)

playing id1 levels with the spawl kit is a hoot, although the weapons enemies and movement are all clearly a bit mismatched, it's a lot of fun to mess around, and custom maps designed around these assets are sure to be a great time. Looking forward to what gets made!

I gotta say that between this and "Slave Zero X: Episode Enyo" I'm really enjoying using a mod for Quake to promote a modern take on retro shooters.

A solid gameplay mod that does a good job of changing Quake's gameplay while keeping something close to the original game's dark atmosphere.

A total conversion in the truest sense! Surprisingly elaborate models and custom music as well! I played an older version, and I'm glad to see it updated and on Slipseer.
It's difficult to criticize a mod that does so much for the wonder price of free, but if I absolutely had one it would be that the original id1 maps don't really match Sprawl's enemies and movement (mainly 'cause I got ragdolled by aggressive enemies and knockback lololol).
Looking forward to see what the community can cook up with the Sprawl Jam!
