Sea Change

seachange_banner.jpg

Sea Change is a short experimental Quake II map demonstrating realistic rolling ocean waves achieved without any engine modding or custom assets.

Explore a small nautical environment, chat up the local pirates, uncover a few secrets (7 to be precise), and observe some nice waves.

Requirements:
The Quake II rerelease by Nightdive Studios is required to run this map.
(If you own Quake II on Steam, you already have the rerelease.)

Install instructions:
Unzip seachange.zip into your Quake 2 maps directory:

.../SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Quake 2/rerelease/baseq2/maps/

The zip just contains the single map file, and that's all you need.

Playing:
  • Boot up Quake II rerelease (this is the default for steam Quake II)
  • open the console with the tilde (~) key (if it doesn't work you may need to enable the developer console in settings)
  • type in 'map seachange'

Cool prototype map, the waves are quite wavey. Not sure how that works, but impressive nonetheless to see something new in the Quake2 engine.

The secret hunt was enjoyable as well. Thanks!
