A modern re-implementation of the enemies and weapons from the Q!Zone CD from 1996.
For some background into this, back in the 90's there was a company named WizardWorks that would bundle oft-uncredited community maps for video games onto CDs you could buy. One of these is Q!Zone, which, unlike D!Zone, Duke!Zone, etc. added some unique enemies and weapon changes!
This mod adds the following enemies:
- Headless - A beheaded soldier with a shotgun
- Flyer - A flying blob, imagine a less infuriating but more gloopy version of the Spawn.
- Nuker - A goblin that uses his massive gun to shoot flyers at you. Upon death, he drops his gun and turns into...
- Nuker (Mad) - A nuker without his gun. He slashes at you with sharp claws.
- Snapper - Some weird box monster that only attacks you if you get close, then chases you while spitting lava. Can only be hurt while outside its dormant state, most likely due to poor code.
- Plane - Just a nuker sitting down and chilling, meant to be in Q!Zone's plane level. Completely passive.
- The Nailgun has been replaced with the Slicer, a semiautomatic shuriken launcher.
- The Lightning Gun now reflects off of solid surfaces, meaning you can hit enemies around corners.
With the help of Madfox and some rudimentary programming skills, I re-implemented the unique mod features into Cleaned Up QuakeC. This fixes some issues the original mod release had, and also opens up the possibility of implementing the enemies into other mods! I also created an FGD file that lets you make maps for the mod, as well as a custom .wad file including all the unique textures we could find in the various maps.
This has been a pet project of mine for about two years, and only now have I gotten around to finishing it. Now this project has been opened for mappers and modders alike! Here's hoping I'm not the only one who cares about this silly mod.
