Challenge 1 Guidelines
Weapons: Must use rockets / grenades to progress in your map. Either in
combat, puzzles, player movement or in any combination. If you are using
a mod with additional weapons, you can use anything that causes an
explosion as part of its attack.
Artifacts: You must use three out of the four artifacts to progress in
your map. The vanilla artifacts are: Biosuit, Ring of Shadows, Pentagram
and Quad Damage. If you use a mod with additional power-ups, you can use
those - but make sure to use at least three.
Interactivity: You must use func_trains to progress through your map.This
could be anything from floating platforms, to crusher traps or moving
labyrinths. If you use a mod with enhanced movers they should operate as
close to a func_train as possible. UPDATE: Your whole map doesn't need
to revolve around "riding the train" so to speak. Just include at least
one section that requires a func_train in some way to progress.
Optional Guidelines
Super Secret: Include some kind of Super Secret in your map.
Traditionally, super secrets are unlocked by finding a selection of
regular secrets in a given map. Usually the player gets a counter message
telling them how many more secrets need to be unlocked to find the super
secret. One notable map in Arcane Dimensions with Super Secrets is The
Forgotten Sepulcher.
Map Specs: Limit the playable boundaries of your map to a 768 by 768
unit base (x and y) with the vertical height within Quake's standard
limits. You can add elements outside these area but only as decoration,
not playable space. An example of this type of map is "Skinny Norris"
