I started this map in June-July 2023 a few days after losing one of the best jobs I had in IT. I was pretty much devastated, disenchanted with all corporate jobs and also a bit scared, as I had just started a mortgage a few months prior to that. So I started pushing very hard to jumpstart my career as a level designer in less than 3 months. Summer in Seville (Spain) is like living in hell so I was most likely delirious if I truly believed I could pull this off (not the map itself but the whole level design thing).
Back then I tried to resort to things and people I loved to keep me sane, and this is where this map took shape. It was meant to be part of a minipack, and this level in particular was going to be the second map in it, heavily inspired by the Spencer Mansion in Resident Evil 1. It is a bit unorthodox and a bit rough around the edges but I think it's ok as it is. It's been sitting in my hard drive forever, partly because I was also waiting for Adib to give it a texture pass (which might still happen in the future), but things in life are never the way we want or expect... I was never good at texturing so I simply refuse to do it.
I'd probably do it completely differently today, but I don't want to start over. May this map be a snapshot of my skills back in 2023.
