Work in Progress: What are you mapping?

WIP iterations on my copper tone summer jam 2 map
big tree with creepy faces, going for some elden ring vibes... faces are courtesy of Obj2Map / OpenGameArt, I didn't hand-build them
still trying to figure out the ground area below, which is more halo inspired
the first map I've made that needed bsp2!
Absolutely crazy stuff. Cant believe my eyes it's brushes not models

Very new to Quake mapping (started last Friday-ish unless we count using WorldCraft back in the early 2000's) - trying to put together a techbase type of map. Due to IRL commitments I am trying to get one room completed a day if possible, but progress is slow. Just kind of learning the ropes of TrenchBroom and trying to make a nice map along the way.

First map of a mini map pack ( also my first map at all! ) inspired by ultrakill's bite-sized arena only levels, if you want I can send you the .bsp
Not pretty to look at but imho real fun to play

A few screens from what was originally supposed to be a ctsj2 map, though I got a little too ambitious, so will release the warm meat temple as an individual thing
This is seriously amazing stuff! Have you mapped for another game before? Because this stuff is.. woah

Thank you! That means a lot coming from you. I mapped in starcraft 1/2 and warcraft 3, but otherwise no. I really love cinematography and framing things though, so am super happy to be able to put what I see in my head into a world - mapping in quake is so much fun.

I've updated the lighting trim on the downramp from earlier. I've actually added a bunch of rooms, but this set goes to the left-hand side of the ramp. This whole section will lead to a mechanism to unlock the pumping station and waste disposal... (idbase was a hard texture set for a first map to start with, really stretching to figure out creative uses for this stock texture set)

Made this medieval mechanism-crane quite some time ago. Was quite proud of it right away, because it's not .mdl but an object made with brushes. All on grid, yep

But there was a problem I could not solve. I could not turn this lift into really working because I could not hide that rope holding lifting platform. That looong rope was just sticking into the skies above crane, when the lift is in upper position

And. Finally. I found a decision how to hide it. Added small brush with skibox texture hiding that rope. Hooray!

So now that medieval crane is working! Well only one time but that's enough
